hello avatars, today we have a deeper look into a fantastic managed service offered by AWS: AWS RDS Aurora. Aurora is a fully managed database service compatible with PostGress and MySQL. Aurora is the default choice for many architects and its highly performant. Not using and understanding Aurora can open your applications up for downtime and incidents. This is not an exhaustive dive into Aurora, some things will not be covered, but you will know enough about the internals of Aurora to understand the service at a deeper level.

I dont want to go to deep into the basics as that information is easily searchable. RDS is Amazon’s relational database service. Aurora is like an offshoot of RDS in that it is a specially tuned version of MySQL or PostgreSQL with additional things behind the scenes that allow for high performance and reliability.
