How DNS Works
The three most fundamental skills to technology are programming, operating systems, and networking. Within networking there is this old thing called the domain name system. DNS is how you get to websites. If you want a job in cloud you *need* to know DNS. DNS is a core piece of a firm’s infrastructure and can often be the root of nasty issues. If you need to learn more about DNS you’re in luck because another blue cartoon (

I have been seeing a couple questions on resumes in the BowTiedDataOrg premium discord, (premium subs got an invite). Want to address some of the questions
and I get ALL OF THE TIME.It is not a good time to be looking for a job. People are getting laid off and with the recent impending doom of SVB* (throw
a sub) more prospective job searchers will be on the market after some early stage companies go bust. That means YOU need to standout and make the recruiter/hiring manager’s job easy.If you want to start making WiFi money, you need cash flows. Ideally, those cash flows come from a high-paying job that allow you to allocate time to creating a business, which is the vessel of your exit. Your business is the life raft to DeGen Island, where you eventually escape. So lets start with step 1 which is that high paying job.
Step 1 is to LEARN:
Figure out the area of tech you want to work in and work backwards with the skills you need. If its not cloud engineering, I have many recommended SubStacks that will give the skills needed to work in other industries. You must learn before you earn.
*Note on BowTiedF’er, he’s the man. Often times in tech (and especially after you read my premium posts) you have too much money, and you don’t know what to do with it. F’er is going to tell you how to allocate your money, build credit, and become the tech overlord you should be when making 300k+. Things like stock options and RSU are already covered by F’er:

How I Look at Resumes
I am part of the hiring team for engineering dept and campus hiring (university hires), and hiring can be pretty annoying. Understand, hiring quality people is good for the company long term overall, but it doesn’t really do anything for me personally in my reviews. Might not be the case everywhere, but vast majority of engineers are not getting promoted due to their hiring ability, management maybe. With that in mind, i am putting the minimum effort into hiring in order the “check the box” and hire someone qualified. It comes down to a simple ROI, less time on things that don’t “move the needle” for me and more time on things that do.
